Suits

Suits

Use this game when you want to play a variety of games but don't want to switch between apps. Students love it, and sometimes they come up with their own rule variants!

You can play a lot of different games with Suits. At its very base, Suits is simply a game board that displays a bunch of boxes with different card suits. You can control how many boxes are on the screen, flip them, shuffle them, and even force them to be the suit that you want. So, give every student a playing card as they walk through the door. Then, use Suits to randomly pick a set of 8 suits. The first group of students who can form that set with their cards wins! That's just one of many games that you can play with Suits!

How to play

Get a deck of cards and have every student grab one as they walk in. Tell them to hang on to this card for a game later.
1. Click on the gear icon in the sidebar to bring up the settings window.
2. In the, "Number of Cards" section, enter 8 (this can be higher or lower depending on the side of your group).
3. Click the save button to save your settings!
Launch the game and tell everyone that each box on the screen has one of 4 suits (hearts, diamonds, spades, and clubs). Then tell everyone to look at the card in their hands. After a 3 second countdown, you're going to flip the cards and everyone will have to get up and create a group with people who match the cards on the screen.
"3, 2, 1!" Hit the "+" key on the keyboard to flip over every card. The first group to match the screen and sit down will win.

Memory
Go into the app's settings and enter how many cards you want to use. 21 is a really great number for this.
Launch the game and tell your students to try and remember all of the suits on the screen. Hit the, "+" key on the keyboard to flip every card.
After a few seconds, hit the, "-" key on the keyboard to flip them back.
Ask a student if they remember any of the suits. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate to the card that they want to guess.
Have them guess the suit, then hit the, "Enter" key on your keyboard to flip that card.
If you need to force a card (to help someone win or lose), hit the first letter of that suit on your keyboard (c, d, h, and s).
Have them keep guessing until they either get too many wrong or complete the board (your rules).

Random picker
Bring up four people who will represent each suit. You can also make them the leader of a section of students. That way an entire section is rooting for a suit.
Set the number of cards to something high like 40.
One by one, have the student hit the spacebar. This will randomly select and flip a card. If they flip their own card, they're out. You can also make it where they have to flip their own card 3 times to be out. This makes the game a little longer.
Keep doing this until all of the cards have been flipped or there is one team standing.
